What are the odds of a couple who live in Canada booking a celebrant who lives in Norfolk, to officiate at their wedding in Somerset – just half a mile from where the celebrant lived for ten years before moving to Norfolk?!
Well, that’s exactly what happened when Sarah & Cam from Vancouver booked lucky ole me for their wedding, which took place yesterday.
A nicer couple, both with lovely families, you could not wish to meet. Many had flown in from Canada for the occasion, which was hosted at the gorgeous Horsington Grange, on the Somerset/Dorset border.
Sarah and Cam (mainly Sarah, I think!) had organised everything to perfection, despite being thousands of miles away!
Sarah looked utterly fabulous and coped admirably with the wind blowing her veil all over! Cam cut a dashing (and very tall!) figure in his snappy blue suit. The sun shone across the Blackmore Vale as they said their poignant, moving and humorous vows to each other. It was magical!
I was lucky to work with some fantastic industry colleagues for the event – the extremely talented photographer, Benjamin Wheeler (Benjamin doesn’t have a facebook account but you can find him on instagram or via his website benjaminthomaswheeler.com. A completely chilled and laid-back guy who captures the most natural and incredible images.
Chapel Hill Duo Sarah and Jaya, an amazing violin & cello duo, played both during and after the ceremony – exquisite!
Beautiful floristry by Flowers by Passion afforded the ceremony area a stunning focal point.
And as for the celebrant – well, I was delighted to return to the county in which I’d spent ten happy years, reacquainting myself with the unmistakable Somerset landscape, many miles of which I have explored on foot.
I was thrilled to be a part of Sarah & Cam’s special day and I have vowed to go and visit them in Vancouver one day in the future!
Congratulations to an awesome couple – I wish you every happiness as you embark on your best adventure yet… x
