Respectful, Meaningful & Appropriate...

Funerals are the last and final chance we have to say our goodbyes; to honour the person who has died and to pay tribute to them in the most appropriate manner. It’s one of the hardest  things in life that any of us have to do and it’s a crucial part of the grieving process to ensure that the final farewell is exactly right.

It truly is a privilege and an honour to officiate at funeral services and I always strive to create a script that accurately reflects the life of the person who lived.

I provide sensitive and respectful home visits, during which time I will glean information about your loved one, whilst offering  guidance about music, poems and readings, to really capture the essence of the person. I encourage participation from family and friends and can discuss this with you at the family meeting.

Unlike my Humanist colleagues, I am happy to incorporate hymns and other religious content within the service. I often hear people say that they don’t necessarily want a fully religious service for their loved one but would like inclusion of a hymn or the Lord’s Prayer, for example. You have full control over the elements included within the service.

My priority is to ensure that the life of your loved one is celebrated in the most fitting and appropriate manner.

For those people who are terminally ill or simply want to plan their own funeral I would be honoured to help you to achieve the appropriate service for you.

Hi Sarah. Thank you so much for the way you did the service for Dave. The comments from friends and relations were so lovely and they all wanted to know your name. You certainly know how to put a eulogy together.

Sarah, thank you so much for all you have done for us at this difficult time.

Hi Sarah. I just wanted to personally thank you for the service you gave at my mother’s funeral. I was greatly moved by what you said and felt that you did a wonderful job of giving her the dignified send off that she deserved. I could not have asked for a better service and for that, you have my utmost gratitude and respect. I want you to know that I will never forget what you have done for me and my family.

From myself and all the Family we would like to thank you again for the lovely service you did for us yesterday.

Everyone was very moved by it all and we have had many comments to say it was the best funeral they had every been to.

So can I say again Thank You so much for all you have done for us all

I write on behalf of all the family members, to thank you so much for the excellent and comforting service. Your kindness was very much appreciated.

What you said and how you said it was absolutely perfect, totally “hit the spot”, everybody said so. You had tapped into the mood of the man my father was, how clever after that one chat you had with us at the cottage

We all appreciated the manner you conducted the procedures and maintained the lightness and dignity we were looking for. We have received many favourable comments from those who attended.

We would like to thank you for your part as so many people said your speech came across as you knew R as well as we did, you spoke about him as you were his friend, and that was the best service they had ever been to, it wasn’t mournful but real celebration and your timing on the music was impeccable.

Thank you once again for the most amazing service.
